I am often asked to sort out doors that won’t swing or won’t close properly.
A recent job was for a door which wouldn’t close properly. The door was catching at the top of the frame, but there seemed to be no movement in the frame or the door, so I decided to set the hinges back into the door to create enough clearance to close.
This picture shows the process underway, notice the old school door prop (I had forgotten my rather expensive automatic door holders). I made this many years ago under the watchful eye of my old governor, Mr Dack.
It is always tricky to take enough out to allow the door to swing but not so much that you can push a pizza underneath!
Door swung as expected when re-fitted, so a good outcome all round.
